I’m Len Foster.
I spent forty years in construction. Long enough to learn that the projects which go wrong rarely go wrong for technical reasons.
They go wrong in the gaps between people — the things not said, not understood, or not questioned in time.
Forty years, tools to boardroom.
I started on the tools, as a joiner.
I came up through the trades into management, and spent years tendering, planning and delivering multi-million-pound projects — responsible for getting them in on time, on budget and safely.
I’ve stood on a cold, wet site at seven in the morning, and I’ve sat in the boardroom defending a programme. I know how decisions get made at the top — and how they land, or don’t, on the ground.
And the pattern never changed. The expensive problems rarely began with the steel or the concrete. They began with something somebody didn’t say, didn’t grasp, or didn’t feel able to question.
Why I do this.
When I left the industry, I spent years as a trainer, speaker and coach — learning how communication, confidence and decision-making actually work, and writing five books along the way.
Now I bring the two worlds together: four decades of knowing how construction really works, and the communication craft to fix the thing that quietly costs it the most.
Not soft skills. The hard, commercial business of stopping a £5k problem becoming a £50k one.
What I believe.
The best people on a project aren’t the ones who never hit problems. They’re the ones who surface them early — out loud, without fear.
Most don’t. They nod when they’re lost. They stay quiet when something looks wrong, in case they’re the one who’s got it wrong.
That silence has a price. My job is to take it away.
Speak so people can hear — and the rework, the disputes and the near-misses start to fall away.
What I do now
Today I work with construction businesses as a keynote speaker, trainer and coach — helping their people communicate, decide and lead with confidence.
I’m a published author of five books and wil be presenting a webinar for CABE in August 2026
Let’s talk.
If poor communication is quietly costing your business, let’s fix it.
